LOVE THEM!!!! I just listened to their debut album, BLUETory and I can’t stop playing it. Interesting fact about CNBlue (short for Code Name Blue). Their leader, Yonghwa, was one of the stars in the hit drama series You’re Beautiful. So I’ve actually been exposed to CNBlue before their fresh debut. After the drama became SUPER POPULAR, effectively jumpstarting Yonghwa into STARDOM OVERLOAD, his group CNBlue began preparing for their introduction to the music scene. Brilliant Legacy

As far as my adventure with Korean dramas, I have to say it’s been so far so good. My third recommendation, Brilliant Legacy, is dramatic yet thoughtful. It has its crazy, “no way that could’ve happened” moments, but it also has its sweet, subtle moments of love and filial piety. This one’s a bit longer, with close to 30 episodes. Be forewarned. This drama kept me up till 4am chasing episode after episode. Yea, it’s really good.

Go Eun Sung’s life is similar to Cinderella’s. After her father died, her step-mother took away all of her assets, leaving her with nothing. Even worse, her autistic younger brother, Eun Woo, suddenly disappears without a trace. Despite this, Eun Sung preservers and works really hard to make a living for herself. At the same time, the CEO of a food company suffers an accident on the street and is striked with temporary amnesia. She can’t remember who she is and where her home is. Seeing this, Eun Sung takes her in. Little did she know that this brief encounter will change her life forever.

I’m a Korean Pop Star for Halloween

For the first time EVER, I’m making my own Halloween costume this year. My first mistake was thinking it’ll be really easy. I mean, look at it. All I need is a white blazer, white shorts, and a hat right? WRONG! It took me forever to find a white cotton blazer…I was so stressed out just finding the damn thing. I don’t have the shorts yet, but Jo promised me they’re easy to find. The hats that I’ve been looking at are HORRID looking. And it’s near impossible to find any military decorations for the jacket. AIYA

I have a week left till Halloween, but I’m hopefuly everything will work out. Anyway, here’s the look I’m going for. I guess its Marine Girl meets Captain of the Titanic. LOL. And here’s the white cotton blazer I got for the outfit.

October Playlist

Here’s a short list of songs I’ve been listening to this past month. Again, this consists of new AND old singles that I uncovered recently. At first, I was worried about coming up with a fresh list of songs each month, but I realized that the Korean music scene moves EXTREMELY FAST. An American single can stay on the charts and be promoted for MONTHS (or more than a YEAR in Jason Mraz‘s case), but Korean singles have a shelf life of about 4-6 weeks, and it’s on to the next one. I think this is one of the reasons why Korean artists are more inclined to come out with “mini-albums” of 5-6 songs throughout the year, rather than a full length album.

Anyway, enough babbling. Take a look at my list for the month and let me know your thoughts.

The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince

Finished my second korean drama, The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince, and I have to say, it was the perfect blend of sweet entertainment. It consists of only 17 episodes, but it’s definitely a treat. I’m actually a bit sad that it ended so quickly. Anyway, here’s a short synopsis of the drama:

The life of Go Eun Chan is not easy; she works many jobs to pay off debts and even gave up her feminine image. Choi Han Kyul is the heir of a big food company, but his grandmother wants him to settle down, so she arranged many dates for him. After Eun Chan bumped into Han Kyul and was mistaken for a boy, Han Kyul decided to hire Eun Chan to be his gay lover in order to avoid the arranged dates. Desperately in need of money, Eun Chan had no choice but to accept. Han Kyul’s grandmother also made Han Kyul in charge of a filthy coffee shop in danger of being bankrupt. Eun Chan begged to work at the coffee shop, and not long after, feelings start to spark, except, how would Han Kyul accept his “homosexuality”?

Utter disappointment

You didn’t have to watch the VMAs to hear about the drama that went down this year. I didn’t. I was actually online and practically every entertainment news source was live blogging or twittering about it. When I watched the youtube video, I couldn’t believe it. It certainly didn’t come as a surprise that Kanye would pull such an idiot stunt. BUT, I still couldn’t brush off the ill-taste in my mouth. Especially when the short-end of the stick belonged to cute and innocent Taylor Swift. *sigh, but i guess this is life. And a life in entertainment can be a real bitch.

A few celebs in attendance also spoke out about the incident on Twitter:

Katy Perry: “f… u Kanye, It’s like you stepped on a kitten.”

Pink: “Kanye West is the biggest piece of sh– on earth. Quote me. My heart goes out to Taylor Swift. She is a sweet and talented girl and deserved her moment. She should know we all love her. Beyonce is a classy lady. I feel for her, too. It’s not her fault at all, and her and Taylor did their thing. And douche bag got kicked out.”

Adam Lambert: Kanye needs to chill. He freaks out every year. It ain’t that deep man.

Joel Madden: WOW Taylor Swift’s first VMA and she didn’t even get to ENJOY it. Kanye You were just a bully on that one man.

BTW, I loooovvved Pink’s quote, and i’m hella LOL-ing over Adam’s quote. Seriously, it ain’t that deep man. STOP FREAKING OUT!!!!

Glad to see the strong support for Taylor. Let’s hope the idiots in the world can learn from this embarrassing incident, and know to THINK before you SPEAK.
